That was for all you Sound of Music fans… you’re welcome.
On August 31, 2013, Chris and I climbed to the top(ish) of Mt. Timpanogos. It was an elevation change of 4,400 feet to reach the top at 11, 060 feet. 12 miles of hiking and the most physically demanding and exhausting thing we have ever done! The skies turned dark as we got closer to the top and we were rained on and then hailed on. Luckily, it was small hail as there was nowhere to shelter. It took us about 6 hours to get up (with a small break for lunch), but only 3 1/2 to get down. We practically ran down the mountain, mostly because all I could think about was going home and eating an enormous dinner, having a drink or two, and getting in the hot tub! What an experience, though. It was something we had wanted to do for a long time but just hadn’t gotten to. And now we have. Check!

Looking up at mountains we will eventually be looking down on |

The trail winds its way up and around the peak at the far right |

A smile on the trail before we were too exhausted for facial expressions |

Lovely little waterfall along the way |

Getting closer… |

WE DID IT!!!!! |

A panoramic from the top. Note the clouds actually on the peak on the right. We were high. |

A momma and baby mountain goat (center of pic) keeping us company on the way down. |
|
Maybe the daddy mountain goat. It was amazing to watch him move so sure-footed up there. |

For perspective, this is the view from our driveway and the arrow shows where we hiked to. |
